Introduction
The website, as best we recall, was started in about 1994. It's had major makeovers in 2002, 2007, and 2008. It's current makeover was launched November 20, 2008. Below are the notes used to guide the 2007 and 2008 redesigns:

Redesign site for better usability
After the Forum, the most popular page according to site stats is http://www.nscss.org/jobs.html so let's make it easier to find job opportunities from the home page.
The other important processes in terms of usability, in order of importance:
- joining society (including: paypal, VISA)
- renewing membership (including paypal, VISA)
- changing displayed member contact information
- registering for annual meeting
- finding other members
- interacting with other members
- finding technical resources
Note: moving to a hosted membership service will improve usability.
Change design/content on home page:
- Divide, simplify the internal link choices
- Short intro re Society, our membership.
- Add dynamic content (news, announcements) (support: Mark)
- Member log in
- collaborative content (to edit)
- business support resources (to edit, possibly to view)
- minutes (support: Mark)
Continuation: Ideas related to overall Web site content (not just home page)

I am thinking that the SSSA's website, soils.org, has some nice features that we should adopt.
